INPHO offers a complete solution for generation and management of large and very large digital terrain models. Already more than 20 National Mapping Agencies and equivalent organizations are using the SCOP++ product family for building up and updating nation-wide DTMs.
The core modules for managing large DTMs are SCOP++ Kernel and SCOP++ TopDM.
SCOP++ Kernel interpolates a high quality hybrid DTM using point clouds and morphological data, like breaklines. The hybrid DTM consists of a regular grid with rigorously integrated breaklines. During the DTM interpolation the input elevations may optionally be filtered, which leads to a smoothed terrain representation without any disturbing effects by measuring errors. One of the main strengths of this method is the high quality of the filtering that is not available when using TIN data structures. SCOP++ Kernel is able to generate DTMs from hundreds of millions of points without need for subdivision of the data.
SCOP++ TopDM is a database management system for DTM data, especially for nation-wide DTM’s. Both original data (e.g. point clouds) and the derived hybrid DTMs may be included in the same database. TopDM handles easily numerous overlapping DTMs and is capable of managing DTMs of practically unrestricted size. Its functionality includes a variety of practical DTM administration features, like merging / feathering of overlapping DTMs, resampling of DTM grids, extraction of desired DTM parts, and transformation of DTMs into other reference systems.
